We ended 2017 with a snow day in mid-December, and now we start the new year with another in mid-January. This time it was mixed with sleet and ice and generally much colder temperatures.

Temperatures have remained cold (for Houston) these past couple of days, but I couldn't let it keep me from at least one range trip before I head back to work next week. I brought my Ruger Gunsite Scout bolt-action 308 with Nikon BDC 3-9x40 scope. I sighted the rifle at 50 yards. My ammunition of choice was Hornady Whitetail Interlock 150 grain.

13 years since the last accumulation of any sort. A long hiatus, to be sure. But yes, finally, we had snow in Houston. Just after midnight it began falling and sticking -- all the way into morning. We enjoyed it tremendously and tucked the experience deep down into our "great memories" bank. It might be another 13 years before we see the white stuff again, but for the time being, we were thrilled.
